Pick a target app and everything you copy lands straight in it — fire a string of questions from a webpage into Claude or ChatGPT without the copy-switch-paste dance. Flip on auto-submit and each copy gets answered hands-free. Or turn on Relay on highlight and just select the text — no copy needed, so it works even on sites that block copying.
How it works
That's the whole interaction. The transcript lands at the cursor in whatever app you were already using — your email draft, your Slack thread, your code editor, your terminal. No tab switch. No paste step.
Three things just happened that other dictation tools won't do for you. Capture heard "actually Wednesday" and replaced "Tuesday" with "Wednesday." It heard "new paragraph" and inserted one. It heard "press enter" at the end and pressed Enter for you. You didn't break flow once.
Prefer one key? Bind dictation to a single modifier like Right ⌘. Hold it to push-to-talk; tap it to start a hands-free recording and tap again to stop. The key still works normally for everything else.
Speak the way you think
Most dictation apps make you talk like a typewriter. Capture listens for the way you actually speak — corrections mid-sentence, half-thoughts, the punctuation you say out loud when you mean it.
Say "period," "comma," "em dash," "open quote," "new line," "new paragraph," "bullet point," "numbered list" — Capture writes the symbol. Say "press enter" at the end and Capture taps Return for you after the paste lands.
"Coffee at 2, actually 3" becomes "coffee at 3." "Scratch that" wipes everything from the start of the sentence. "I mean…" replaces the half-formed thought before it. Conservative by design — "I actually enjoyed the movie" stays intact.
Capture watches the pauses in your voice. When you take a breath, it inserts a paragraph break. Long dictations come out as clean prose with structure, not a wall of text.
Say "first… second… third…" and Capture formats it as a numbered list. Skips the conversion when you only say one ordinal — "first of all, let me say…" stays prose.
Make it sound right
Four cleanup tiers, picked once and remembered. The right one depends on what you're writing — a Slack message wants something different than a board memo.
Verbatim. Nothing changed except spacing. Best for code, terminal commands, form fields, anywhere precision wins over polish.
Fixes spelling, grammar, "um"s, repeated words, punctuation. Keeps your voice — sounds like you, just better-edited.
Reformats into clean paragraphs and clearer phrasing without restyling. Best when you want it tidier but not rewritten — internal notes, journal entries, drafts.
Restyles into a chosen mode — Email, Slack, Note, Task, or Executive. Combine with the Tone picker (Formal, Casual, Very Casual, Excited) for high-stakes prose.
Command Mode
Press ⌘⌃R while text is selected, speak an instruction, release. Capture replaces what you highlighted with the result. Translate to Spanish. Make this more concise. Turn this outline into a paragraph. Add a closing line.
The model is told to treat your command as authoritative, preserve names and facts, and never refuse. You stay in control — undo (⌘Z) puts the original back if you don't like the rewrite.
Words you actually use
Product names, internal acronyms, people, jargon. Three layers of personalization that work together so the things you say most never come out wrong.
Add up to 80 terms manually. Capture also auto-learns proper nouns it sees in your prior captures. CSV import for migrating from another tool — up to 1,000 entries per file.
Say "my address" and Capture inserts your full address. Up to 50 voice-triggered text expansions. Phone numbers, meeting links, email signatures, common boilerplate.
When the transcription consistently hears the wrong word, teach it the right one — "Rivera" → "Revera," "draught" → "draft." Applied case-insensitively, output in your specified case.
Capture quietly factors in the app you're in, the meeting on your calendar right now, and recent captures when transcribing. Words from those contexts get extra weight.
Where your words go
Capture has two destinations, picked once and visible at a glance on every recording. The menu bar icon changes to tell you which one is active.
Types at your cursor and keeps a clipboard copy. Nothing leaves your Mac. WhisperKit on-device transcription. Best for private work, sensitive drafts, the kind of writing you don't want anywhere else.

More than dictation
For quiet spaces. Relaxes the silence threshold so a close-positioned mic catches what you whisper. Nobody else has this.
Optional: see your words appear at the cursor as you speak. The cleaned-up final version replaces the live version when you stop.

Pick Local Only and nothing about your dictation leaves your Mac — not the audio, not the transcript, not the metadata. Transcription runs on-device using WhisperKit and Apple Silicon's neural engine. Screenshots and screen recordings are the same: they're written straight to the folder you choose and never leave your Mac unless you explicitly send a capture to Revera Flow.
Pick Save to Flow and your captures sync to your Revera Flow corpus — encrypted in transit, accessible only by you, never used to train any model. The Polish and Rewrite tiers send the transcript to our servers briefly so the LLM can clean it up; we don't keep the audio, and the cleaned text goes straight back to you.
Microphone, Accessibility, and global keystroke permissions are required for Capture to do what it does; Screen Recording is required only for screenshots, screen recording, and capturing Mac/system audio in meetings. macOS prompts you for each one on first use, and you can revoke any of them in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Questions
Yes — Local Only mode runs entirely on-device. Brief cleanup and voice commands work offline. Polish and Rewrite tiers need an internet connection because they use cloud LLMs for the rewrite step. Save to Flow also needs internet to sync.
To whatever folder you set in Settings → General → Capture storage — your Desktop by default. Screen recordings save as an mp4 and the file path is copied to your clipboard, so you can paste it straight into a message or doc. Nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly send a capture to Revera Flow.
Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. WhisperKit transcription needs the Neural Engine that Apple Silicon provides. Intel Macs aren't supported.
Accuracy depends on your microphone and your environment. In a quiet room with an external or wired mic, expect 96–97%. With a built-in laptop mic, 93–95%. In noisy environments, around 88%. Capture's custom dictionary and corrections list close the gap on your specific vocabulary over time.
For most people, yes. Apple Dictation handles only basic transcription with no formatting, no per-app polish, no voice commands beyond simple punctuation, no custom vocabulary, and no command-mode rewrites. Capture is built for people who write a lot at the keyboard and want voice to be a real alternative — not a fallback.

Capture is one half of a larger system. Revera Flow is the cognitive continuity layer: it holds the captures you've made over time, finds connections between thoughts, and resurfaces what matters at the right moment. If you only ever use Capture for dictation, that's fine — but Save to Flow turns every voice note into a node in a longer memory.
Not yet, and probably not soon. The kind of global hotkey + accessibility access Capture needs to do what it does is heavily restricted in Mac App Store sandboxing. Direct download from this site is a deliberate choice that lets us ship the full feature set without compromises.
Capture is licensed for personal and professional use by one person at a time. You're welcome to dictate the whole day if you like — the limits are written to bother nobody real. What we don't allow: automated scripts hitting the dictation pipeline, multi-user sharing of a single license, resale or rebadging the app, reverse-engineering, or using Capture to build a competing dictation product.
